Capital Tower Opening...FINALLY!

In today’s blog we have the wonderful Rhys, the Manager for Capital Tower talking about the road to finally opening the site. Grab a KIN+ILK Coffee and enjoy!

When was the contract first sorted, Tell us about the journey of getting to where we are now?

We acquired the space just before the pandemic. It was a short time after the Brunel house acquisition. We completed the first stages of the fit out, then unfortunately the pandemic hit and we went into the first lockdown. It was a tough one, we were so eager to get open. But even after the restrictions were lifted, the buildings were near empty due to the ‘work from home’ covid guidance. It’s just been a big waiting game since then, till now that is.

Whats your favourite thing about the capital tower site?

The building itself, it’s epic! I always think of this building as being synonymous with the city and the cardiff sky line. It was built in the late 60’s and became the tallest building in south wales until recently. Fun fact, my mother used to work in the building in the 70’s.

What has the reaction been from the people at Capital Tower?

Incredibly positive, it’s been a wonderful reception from the tenants and building managment team. It’s truly been a great vibe and it’s already a joy to work in the building.

Have you been onto the capital tower roof yet?

Yes, I have. I almost lost my hat. The views are so impressive, you can see right from the Garth mountain to the river Severn. It the type of view that’s make you feel really proud to be a part of this awesome city.

What is your go to drink of choice?

Long black in work (always). V60’s at home. Cask beer at the pub.

I’m into all these bonkers process methods that are popping up in the scene like anaerobic or lactic processed. I like tasting new things that challenge the pallet. The more fermentation the better.
