From Honey to Washed: A True Taste of El Salvador

It's an incredibly exciting time in KIN+ILK as we’ve changed crops for our delicious house Finca El Corozo. Finca El Corozo is directly traded in partnership with Clifton Coffee Roasters. We often get the pleasure of visiting our farmer Fernando ‘The Don’ Lima in El Salvador.

To celebrate the new crop, we hosted an evening event in collaboration with Clifton Coffee Roasters. The event took place on the 13th of July at KIN+ILK, St Davids. We hosted a latte art competition and showcased the amazing Faces Of Origin art by the wonderful James Pipkin.

Not only did we have great entertainment watching the latte art competition, but we also had delicious speciality cocktails using our new Finca El Corzo coffee, such as Cold Brew Martini, Orange Cold Brew G+T, alongside nibbles from KIN X The Old Bank small plate menu.

When we mention the changes in our crop, what does this actually mean?

While the origin of our coffee remains the same we have moved from honey to a washed process. This means we are celebrating the flavour of El Salvador like never before.

The washed process puts the focus entirely on the bean, this is because the coffee cherry is removed before the drying process. This process highlights the bean’s characteristics and brings out the cleanest and brightest-tasting cups of coffee.

Washed coffee is all about purity and is perfect for our single-origin beans. It allows you to taste all the vibrant notes and distinct flavours of the origin and variety. Our Finca El Corozo has notes of citrus fruits, chocolate and a honey-like sweetness typical to the highest quality coffee of the region.
